Free internet dial up connections are readily available, however if you plan to truly use the Internet and want to avoid frustration, the only way to go is ADSL. ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a commercial broadband service, connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
One of the benefits of ADSL is that you can both speak on the phone and use the Internet simultaneously. 3 megabyte ADSL costs around 40€ monthly and usually there are "special offers" that waive the set-up fee.
If you infrequently use the Internet, a standard free dial-up service may suit your needs. Keep in mind that you will be paying a per minute local call charge, the connections can be tediously slow and during peak hours it may be difficult to get on-line. For more information, call 1004.

There are three main suppliers in Spain, all offering either pre-paid or contracted price plans. These offers can be bewildering and are subject to frequent and radical changes.
ZIRVANA
An English speaking low cost call provider offering both landline and mobile solutions using the Orange network.
International calls from as little as 15 cents connection plus 9 cents per minute to UK landlines. Calls to other numbers on the ZIRVANA network are 15 cents connection plus 5 cents per minute. With ZIRVANA'S mobile options you will not need to pay a monthly contract fee, call charges only.
