Málaga Airport is an international airport serving over ten million passengers per year with scheduled, charter and budget flights to and from most Spanish and European cities. It is located about eight kilometres west of the city of Málaga, just off the coastal highway.
The airport has begun a massive overhaul with completion scheduled for 2010. Expect delays, reroutes and slight chaos until the building work is finished. Allow yourself extra time.
The construction work underway is the most extensive transformation in the airport's history. The new terminal will cover 224,000 square metres and is designed to facilitate easy arrivals and departures.
As the airport expands, so will the services, restaurants and shops. A thoroughly modern infrastructure is in the making with a capacity to handle double its current passenger volume.
Being built is a new passenger terminal, a second runway, new boarding gates and an additional car park. Coming soon, they will be opening a train and bus station inside the terminal - no more outside drop offs!
When entering the departure terminal, there are huge screens advising of check in desk numbers. Once inside the airport, there are numerous gift and duty free shops, as well as restaurants, snack bars, pharmacy and a newsagent.
There is an art gallery in the departures terminal. If you have a minute stop by and have a peek at the show. The gallery is open from 11:00 - 13.30 and 17:00 - 20:00. It is to the far left of the check in counters down the ramp.
Unless you want to pay a parking fine or get towed, don't park in front of the arrivals terminal. Until the building work ends, it is a good tip to go to the departures area to enter the parking garage. Park on the top floor for departures or the lower floor for arrivals. This is the most convenient parking area. Parking prices are as follows: Up to 30 minutes 60 cents; up to an hour 90 cents; up to 2 hours 1,50€; The daily rate is 15€ for first 5 days then becomes 12€.
Distant, but free parking is available in the P3 and P4 parking garages. P3 has a free shuttle to the terminals and P4 is next to the train station.
Travellers with a non-EU originating flight, must clear customs upon arrival. Your luggage will be on the last carousel in a separate glassed in customs area where it may be inspected by customs agents.
Plastic shrink wrapped suitcases seem to receive a suspicious welcome from customs and are frequently searched!
There are two coach options. One has several stops along the coast and the other goes directly to Marbella.
The coach service has several stops along the coast and ends at Marbella bus station. Buses also run from the airport to Málaga city centre every half an hour from 07:00 til midnight and from the city bus station to the airport from 06:30 - 23:30.
Portillo is the local bus company along the Costa del Sol and Corporación Española de Transportes (CTSA) serves Málaga and Algeciras (Cádiz).

Most major airlines have customer service centres at the Málaga airport and the office hours are listed below. Generally speaking for late night flights they open up their offices, but it is always best to call ahead. Many of the smaller airlines and charter companies subcontract out to local representatives such as Select Aviation, S.A.R.T (Servicios, Asesoramiento, Representaciones y Transporte) and Málaga Ground Services to coordinate their flights.
The smaller airlines and charter companies may not have a staffed office at the airport, however if you need assistance, prior to flights, a company representative is available. If you need help with an unusual or oversized package ask for the handling company (handlers are open 24 hours to the public at the airport.)

Gibraltar Airport is located about two km from Gibraltar town centre and is adjacent to the frontier of Spain. There is a regular mini bus service to the town (run by the Gibraltar Bus Company every 15 minutes from 06:00 til 21:00) and there is a taxi stand outside. If visiting or picking up a hire car in Spain, it's easier to walk the few hundred yards across the border to la Línea.
There are two car parks outside the terminal building for long and short term. If you are entering Spain and require a taxi, you need to walk over the border and take a Spanish taxi, as Gibraltar taxis are not allowed to enter Spain.
When meeting friends and relatives, it's best to park in la Línea and walk across the frontier. There are usually very long delays to get across the border, sometimes lasting four or five hours. The Spanish border guards thoroughly search traffic due to the continued dispute over sovereignty of Gibraltar.
British Airways flys to Heathrow (only in summer) and Gatwick; Monarch flys to Luton and Iberia flys to Madrid. The airport is small but has two cafés, duty free shops for passengers and an information centre. Outside there is a minimarket for non-passengers.

Seville Airport, situated ten kilometres northwest of the capital, in preparation for the 1992 Universal Exhibition, experienced a complete overhaul and expansion. The architects drew upon Seville's Al Andalus roots by using three traditional components: the mosque, the palace and orange trees. Upon arrival travellers are greeted by an orange grove and entering the terminal they pass under the blue tinged reflections caused by the glazed roof tiles, then they are crowned by a line of arches supported by vaults. Spain is proud of its blending of classic architecture with modern design!
Though Seville airport does have some international flights, 75 percent of the total traffic is domestic. The airport served a total of 3,870,600 passengers in 2006. There are international flights to Amsterdam, Dublin, Florence, Lisbon, Rome, London, Liverpool and Paris.
In 1914 the first plane to fly between the peninsula and Morocco landed at the improvised aerodrome in Tablada. In 1919 the first commercial flights between Seville and Madrid were carried out. The airport has grown proportionally to meet Seville's demand.
Current amenities include 7 shops, a chemist, a café, 2 cash points, 2 VIP lounges and a TV room.
GETTING THERE: From Seville, take the San Pablo dual carriageway linking to the A-4 national motorway, direction Madrid. The airport access slip road is at the 533 kilometre point. From Cádiz and Huelva, follow the SE-30 to the junction with the A-4 national motorway and take the access slip road at kilometre 533. From Córdoba, before arriving in Seville, take the airport access slip road at kilometre 533 on the A-4 national motorway.
BY BUS: Seville's urban transport system links Puerta de Jerez with the airport. You can look up the departure hours for the buses on their website: www.tussam.es. The journey takes 30 minutes and a single ticket costs 2€, 3,50€ return.
Tel: 902 210 317
